About this here band they call david wade & black mountain
Just a little bluegrass action for your ears
David Wade & Black Mountain is rooted in the foothills of Central Virginia, where the timeless sounds of bluegrass and Appalachian tradition run deep. Blending heartfelt originals, high-energy pickin’, and soulful harmonies, we bring a fresh voice to classic roots music.
Drawing inspiration from mountain trails, front porch jams, and the enduring spirit of American folk, our music pays homage to the past while forging new ground. Whether it's a driving instrumental, a tender ballad, or a foot-stomping singalong, our sets are crafted with that old timey type of music.
We’re proud to share our sound with audiences near and far. Check out our music, get to know the band, and find out where we’re playing next.
David Wade
David is the fearless frontman and rhythm-wrangler of Black Mountain. Raised on a steady diet of gospel harmonies, truck stop chili, and late-night Merle Haggard records, he learned guitar the old-fashioned way — by borrowing one and never giving it back.
Jered Gillespie
Jered plays banjo like it owes him money. A connoisseur of both Scruggs licks and gas station breakfast sandwiches, he’s been tearing up five strings since he accidentally signed up for a clawhammer workshop thinking it was a boxing class.
Ken Holley
Ken brings the thunder on upright bass and the mischief in between songs. A lifelong groove enthusiast, he first picked up the bass to impress a girl and stuck with it because he liked how it rattled the floorboards.
Greg Goodson
Greg plays the mandolin so fast it voids most return policies. A trail runner by day and tone chaser by night, he picked up the mandolin after realizing it had more strings than a banjo. In his spare time, he’s an Airbnb photographer. Cool beans!
